Mark Armbruster, CFA, is the Founder and CEO of Armbruster Capital Management. He began his investment career in equity research at Smith Barney and later worked with Salomon Smith Barney’s Chief Equity Strategist. In 2000, Mark moved back to Rochester to help launch Alesco Advisors, where he served as Chief Investment Officer until he left in 2008 to found Armbruster Capital.
Throughout his career, Mark has focused on entrepreneurship in the financial services industry, investing in and building several private companies. He has presented to investor groups nationwide, consulted on investment‑related legal matters, and contributed content to online and print media outlets. His insights have been featured in major financial publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and The Financial Times.
Mark graduated from the University of Rochester with a bachelor’s degree and has served on several nonprofit and corporate boards, including Empowering People’s Independence (EPI). In 2025, he was recognized by the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation for his charitable work, including helping his son, Amer, launch Seize the Day, an annual community fundraising event that benefits EPI.
Mark and his family live on a small farm raising chickens and honeybees. In 2025, he retired from coaching Nordic skiing at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School but continues to enjoy all types of skiing with his kids around the northeast and occasionally out west. He is the proud father of three children and a naughty dog, Oslo.
