At Armbruster Capital Management, we are deeply committed to the Rochester community, and we proudly support EPI (Empowering People’s Independence) because it shares the same dedication. Our CEO, Mark Armbruster, recently joined WPXY radio to discuss the upcoming 40th Annual Chocolate Ball, a signature Rochester fundraising event that supports EPI’s epilepsy services. He was joined by EPI’s Vice President of Development and Marketing, Chris Beato, who shared insights into the organization’s mission and the impact this event has across the region. You can listen to the full interview here.
A Personal Commitment to EPI
Mark’s relationship with EPI spans more than two decades. He first became involved through PRALID, one of EPI’s predecessor organizations, where he served on the board for ten years. He later played a key role in the merger between PRALID and the Epilepsy Foundation, helping to strengthen the combined organization and expand its reach.
His involvement with EPI became deeply personal in 2019, when Mark’s son, Amer, was diagnosed with epilepsy. That experience shaped his ongoing commitment to ensuring that families facing similar challenges have access to the resources they need.
Mark’s leadership was recently recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Honorable Mention from the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation.* His work includes helping his son launch Seize the Day, an annual trail and run fundraising event that’s grown into a true community effort. In addition, his various fundraising efforts have raised more than $200,000 for programs such as Camp EAGR, the only overnight camp in New York State for children with epilepsy. As part of this recognition, the foundation awarded EPI a monetary donation to further its mission. The Armbruster family continues to host the annual Seize the Day run, which raises awareness and support for epilepsy services throughout the region.
EPI’s Mission and Community Impact
During the WPXY interview, Chris Beato provided an overview of EPI’s work across several regions in Western and Central New York. Each year, the organization serves nearly 6,000 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, and epilepsy. EPI’s programs are designed to help individuals build independence, develop meaningful connections, and live with dignity. It is a mission that closely aligns with our firm’s values and continues to make a significant difference in the lives of families throughout the region.
Celebrating 40 Years of the Chocolate Ball
The conversation also highlighted the excitement surrounding this year’s Chocolate Ball milestone. As EPI’s largest annual fundraiser, the event brings together hundreds of guests for an evening of celebration, community, and, of course, chocolate. This year’s Roaring 20s theme promises a memorable night at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center on Saturday, March 7.
Armbruster Capital Management is honored to serve as the Presenting Sponsor for the 40th anniversary event. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available on EPI’s website.
